Sibley East Welcome Information

The Sibley East Schools proudly serve the communities of Arlington, Gaylord, and Green Isle, MN, along with rural residents throughout Sibley and Nicollet Counties.

Location and Campuses

The school district covers 247 square miles in the eastern half of Sibley County and northern Nicollet County. Campuses are located in the communities of Arlington and Gaylord. The district office is located in Arlington. Students in grades Pre-K through 5 attend school in Gaylord, and students in grades 6-12 attend school in Arlington. Our district residents recently made a significant commitment of $43,000,000 to provide outstanding, state-of-the-art school facilities. The brand new Gaylord facility opened in the fall of 2017. Also in the 2017-18 school year, the newly remodeled and expanded Arlington facility opened. 



Due to its advantageous location just southwest of the Twin City metropolitan area just north of the Greater Mankato area, district residents have easy access to many amenities, such as plays, major league games, shopping, etc. Nature lovers will enjoy easy accsss to Lake Waconia, Lake Minnetonka, Valleyfair, etc. The charming community of New Ulm is also close at hand to the west, as well as the picturesque Minnesota River Valley just to the east. The area's proximity to these major centers of commerce provides work possibilities for many.


Student Population

Student population for school year 2020-21 is 1088 of which 30% is minority. The district is extremely proud of the student body and their active role in the community.

District History

Sibley East School District was formed on July 1, 1995 from the previous Arlington-Green Isle and Gaylord School Districts.

Cutting Edge Technology

Our students benefit from state-of-the-art technology in the classroom including a 1:1 iPad initiative, SMART boards in all classrooms, and fully networked buildings. The available technology allows for the instruction of 21st century skills in all classrooms and across all curricular areas. Outside the classroom, there are a wide variety of academic and extra-curricular activities available to all students. This allows students to engage in many areas of interest and develop skills through a wide range of experiences.


Sibley East Community Connections

Many partnerships between the school, business, community, along with city and county government allow Sibley East Schools to provide extensive programs in the areas of agricultural education, health occupations, community education, and alcohol and drug prevention.

Our Communities
 

Arlington

Arlington is located in the center of the school district on Minnesota Highway 5. Its population is approximately 2,300.  Arlington is known for its vibrant, classic Main Street business district with its historic theater, its beautiful community center, championship amateur baseball teams, which play at an outstanding ball field owned by the school district, and Arli-Dazzle, the now famous lighted Christmas parade and festival. This well-kept community boasts the Sibley Medical Center, part of the Ridgeview network, and five lovely parks.


Green Isle

Green Isle is located on the northeastern edge of the school district at the intersections of Minnesota 5 and 25. It is a community of approximately 800, which provides a rural style of living, attractive to many. Green Isle is proud of its state champion amateur baseball team and ball park, beautiful churches, and its town park. Due to its closer proximity to the metro area, Green Isle has seen the greatest percentage of population growth in the school district.



Gaylord

Gaylord has a similar population to Arlington. It is located at the western end of the district at the intersections of Minnesota Highways 5, 19, and 22 and borders Titloe Lake. Gaylord is a very progressive community and is home to the county seat and active industries. Michael Foods has a very large processing facility in the community and there are a number of other industrial operations. The city is proud of its comprehensive library and aquatic center, among other amenities.
