Sibley East Technology Vision Statement
The vision of Sibley East Public Schools is that all students and staff will be capable in computer/mobile technology and able to participate in a high-performance work force that adapts readily to constantly changing demands.
Our district mission is to prepare students to meet tomorrow’s challenge. Making students technologically capable is a major component to meeting future challenges.
The K12 technology department prioritizes student privacy and adheres to federal regulations such as FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act). FERPA safeguards the confidentiality of student education records, ensuring that personal information is protected from unauthorized disclosure. COPPA governs the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information from children under the age of 13, ensuring their online safety and privacy. By strictly adhering to these regulations, we maintain a secure and trustworthy digital environment for our students.
Minnesota House File 2353 is a significant piece of legislation that strengthens student data privacy protections. This law mandates increased security measures for educational data, limiting its use and sharing to only what’s necessary for educational purposes. It also requires schools and technology providers to implement robust data protection practices, including data minimization, regular security assessments, and incident response plans. By prioritizing student privacy, HF 2353 aims to safeguard sensitive information and build trust between schools and families.
Sibley East Public Schools use a variety of digital tools to support student learning. Technology vendors and software are utilized to support work as we help all students develop the skills necessary to succeed in an ever-changing world.Â
We have an inventory of our curriculum, testing, and assessment tools listed below in the Software List, which includes an outline of the student data elements within each tool. This list is maintained and communicated annually to all families at the start of the school year. (Â Please note that this list is a work in progress and will be changing.)
